Therapeutic Approaches

My clinical training has included a range of therapeutic approaches, allowing me to tailor treatment to the individual rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all model.

Approaches I draw from include:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) · Psychodynamic Therapy · Interpersonal Therapy · Motivational Interviewing · Mindfulness-Based Approaches · Humanistic Therapy · Family Systems Approaches · Trauma-Focused Interventions · Internal Family Systems (IFS) · Multicultural & Culturally Responsive Approaches

Psychological Assessment

In addition to psychotherapy, my doctoral training includes experience with psychological assessment, including:

  • Intellectual and cognitive assessment

  • Neuropsychological assessment

  • Psychological evaluation

  • Clinical interviewing and diagnostic assessment

  • Treatment planning

  • Comprehensive psychological reports

My assessment experience has included working primarily with children and adolescents, as well as adults.

Culturally Responsive & Inclusive Care

My professional and academic work has placed a particular emphasis on the relationship between culture, identity, and mental health.

My doctoral research explored cultural and psychological factors influencing African Americans' reluctance to seek or complete psychotherapy through a decolonization framework.

I have also provided professional education on cultural humility and have participated in presentations and professional discussions related to culturally responsive psychological practice, Black mental health, and the experiences of Black women.

I believe effective therapy requires curiosity about each person's lived experience. I strive to create a space where clients can explore their mental health without having to separate it from their culture, identity, relationships, or broader life experiences.

Professional Training & Education

I hold a Doctor of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, with doctoral training completed through APA-accredited programs.

My clinical training has included extensive supervised experience in:

  • Individual, couples, and family psychotherapy

  • Child and adolescent therapy

  • Psychological assessment

  • Crisis intervention

  • Group therapy and psychoeducation

  • Trauma-focused care

  • Multicultural and culturally responsive therapy

  • Clinical diagnosis and treatment planning

I am currently a Psychology Associate in Maryland and Washington, DC, practicing under appropriate clinical supervision.

A Collaborative Approach

Across my training and clinical experience, I have worked with people experiencing a wide range of concerns. What remains consistent in my work is an emphasis on collaboration, compassion, cultural awareness, and helping clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves.

Therapy is not about fitting yourself into a predetermined framework. It is an opportunity to understand where you are, where you want to go, and what may be getting in the way.

“Honoring where/who we come from, healing where we are, and creating a healthier path for those who come after us.”.”
